Mirabel-aux-Baronnies

Mirabel is the former capital city of the vocontienne Gaudenses tribe.
According to the legend, the name of Mirabel means "beautiful view" after the tower named "Turris Mirabella", and from the top of which you could see the city of Orange.

Description

The castle of the village has disappeared but you can still visit the 17th century Saint-Victor & Saint-Jacques Church, or the Saint-Roch Chapel (1629), admire the beautiful 13th century fountain in the old castle yard, or the one of the Dauphins situated at the village entrance.
2km south-west from the village, you will also find the splendid Notre-Dame de Beaulieu roman Chapel.
The Mounts of Baronnies near by, with the Mount-Ventoux in the background, offer various landscapes and charming stolls.
A must see:
- "The Flowered House" (Croix de Serre sq.): curious house covered with flowers.
- The wine summer celebration: August 15.
